Help our Mission
Thank you for your interest in becoming a valued Blue Ridge Rescue Barn volunteer! Volunteering is a deeply rewarding way to help animals who have been given another chance, but it’s also a serious commitment.
We’re not open to the public, and it takes time, training, and trust to become part of the herd. For that reason, we ask all prospective volunteers to commit to regular service (at least 4 hours per month) and to be ready for hands-on work that supports our animals’ well-being. We invest a lot into onboarding and training, so we’re looking for people who are truly committed to being part of this mission.
No animal handling takes place without proper training and supervision. You’ll start by shadowing, learning, and getting to know the rhythms of life on the farm.

We offer both one-time and recurring regular volunteer opportunities.
All applicants looking to obtain a recurring volunteer position must attend one of our orientation/ training events. Dates below.
All volunteers must complete an application.
Volunteers under 15 need adult accompaniment.
We welcome volunteers under 15 during seasonal volunteer workdays. Stay tuned for fall/winter opportunities.
Adherence to barn and facility rules is mandatory.
Volunteering involves physical activity; contact us with any concerns or restrictions.
